Community Involvement
The culture of WAYA is so much more than youth sports. It's about challenges and accomplishments, individual opportunity, discovery, positive coaching and leadership, and most importantly, volunteerism and giving back. As WAYA has grown to include over 60 zip codes in and around Austin, this growth offers our organization the opportunity, responsibility, and privilege to be in service to others.
WAYA has embraced the needs of our ever-expanding community with several programs. These programs include Champs League for children with disabilities, the After-School program for middle school youth of working parents, financial assistance, book drives that support BookSpring and WAYA's continued support of the University of Texas Elementary School. These programs are changing the face of WAYA. They are far reaching into the greater community and have become an important part of our culture at WAYA.
We are making a difference in our community and beyond. Your generous contributions through sponsorships, school supplies, used books, and volunteer hours have gone a long way in making these programs thrive. In addition, WAYA has introduced two new programs to our community:
Impact TODAY Volunteer Program
The Impact TODAY Volunteer Program advances the core mission of the West Austin Youth Association in helping youth realize their own individual potential. The program is focused on community service and is designed to connect students 6th grade and above with organizations that need volunteers. WAYA has partnered with a variety of organizations and has identified age-appropriate opportunities for our Impact Today volunteers; giving each participant the choice of volunteer opportunities based on their individual strengths, interests and talents.
As a community resource, WAYA partners with other non-profit organizations to connect the community and provide services for those in need. Each partnership advances the core mission of the West Austin Youth Association to provide all youth the opportunity to reach their own individual potential. Our focus is on serving the community and connecting WAYA families and resources with organizations in need.
