Community Involvement: Impact Today

The Impact TODAY Volunteer Program advances the core mission of the West Austin Youth Association in helping youth realize their own individual potential. The program is focused on community service and is designed to connect students 6th grade and above with organizations that need volunteers. WAYA has partnered with a variety of organizations and has identified age-appropriate opportunities for our Impact TODAY volunteers; giving each participant the choice of volunteer opportunities based on their individual strengths, interests and talents.

How to Join

Impact TODAY

Eligible Participants:

All students in the 6th grade and above.

Location:

Volunteer activities may occur at the WAYA facility located at 1314 Exposition Blvd., at the location of one of our partner organizations, at a separate location to be determined by the partner organization or at your home. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the volunteer activity.

Community Service Hours:

Participants will be responsible for recording their volunteer hours. A Volunteer Hours Log Template is available for download for your convenience. In order to receive a community service letter from WAYA, each participant will need to complete their Volunteer Hours Log, have the Volunteer Supervisor for each volunteer activity sign and verify their service hours and return the form to WAYA. This form will be used by WAYA to document the community service letter. Letters may be mailed or e-mailed to the participant, school counselor or location of choice. Letters are sent out at the end of each semester (December, May) unless otherwise requested.
