DUCK ROOM:
Must be 1 and walking before Sept. 1, 2016 for 2016-2017 school year
Welcome to the Duck Class for children 1 turning 2.
Toddlers want to know what is inside, behind, and under anything and everything. At WAYA, we set up the environment so that everything in your toddler's reach is waiting for them to explore. At this age, school is all about getting used to a routine. Transitions are tough on toddlers. Therefore, getting familiar with a structured routine is an important time in preparing them for the preschool and school age years to come. Another major area of development at this time is language, language, language! That is why our WAYA teachers are constantly talking to your toddler, reading to them, and singing to them. Further, WAYA offers a theme-based curriculum. The Duck Room teachers provide fun, hands-on activities based on themes that interest the children such as bugs, animals, transportation, nursery rhymes, and more. We are so excited to meet you and your child!

Welcome to the Monkey Class for children 2 by June 1, 2016 for the school year of 2016-17. Two-year-olds enjoy using their senses and motor skills to explore the world and are highly curious about unfamiliar objects, events and phenomena. In the Monkey Class, the curriculum is all about hands-on, messy, dirty, sweaty fun! Your child will come home with paint on their clothes, shaving cream everywhere, stained hands, marker on their faces, and sweaty hair. At two, children can solve simple problems with the "trial and error" method and will practice an activity over and over and over to master it. The Monkey Room teachers help the children practice, practice, practice all of their fine motor, gross motor, language, and social/emotional skills. Children this age also pretend more during play, using familiar objects and situations to process their daily experiences. The Monkey teachers are energetic, fun adults who will join your two year old in dancing, playing dress-up, "cooking" in the play kitchen, singing, building blocks, racing in the gym and much more! We are so excited to meet you and your child!
We are enrolling for the next school year of 2016-17, please contact Heather to enroll.

Welcome to the Frog Class for children 3- 5 years old. We use this as a multiaged classroom for our 3 year olds and any 4 year olds that would like part time care, are not ready for pre-k yet, or enjoy learning with children of different ages.
Three-year-olds learn primarily through exploring, using all the senses. While playing, they are better able to ignore distractions and focus on the task at hand. They will even persist in completing something that is a bit difficult and can think more creatively and methodically when solving problems. Therefore, the Frog Room curriculum is more advanced than previous classes, circle time is extended, and more challenging activities are offered. Three-year-olds are also able to listen to and understand conversations, stories, songs and poems. Therefore, the Frog teachers model conversations with each other and have many conversations with the children. Story time is all the time in the Frog class. Stories are offered during center time, circle time, lunch time, and anytime! Music and movement and lots of singing will be heard in the Frog Class. Furthermore, as they develop more independence, children this age begin to have real friendships with other children. When conflicts arise with peers, three-year-olds will typically seek adult assistance. The Frog Teachers teach the children how to resolve these conflicts with one another. The teacher's job is to give the children the appropriate language to use with one another, for example, "I am using this right now, but you can have a turn after me", or "I don't like it when you do that. Please stop", etc. We are so excited to meet you and your child!
